Students Learn Compassion with Donation Drive for Hurricane Helene Relief
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the students at Mandalay Elementary School partnered with New York State Senator Steven D. Rhoads and the National Guard by organizing a donation drive to collect essentials for families affected by the devastating storm. Items such as powdered sports drinks, baby wipes, diapers, baby formula, bug spray, toiletries and cleaning supplies were collected in an effort to provide relief to those who lost homes and belongings.
With the help of teachers, parents, and the community, the initiative inspired many, and the overwhelming response showcased the power of community. Students are not only learning about generosity but also experiencing firsthand how small actions can lead to meaningful impact.
Through their efforts, the children are helping families rebuild and showing that compassion knows no age limits.
