Cereal Boxes Fall as Mandalay Students Lift Up Food Pantry

One by one, 225 boxes of cereal fell like dominoes to celebrate the culmination of a successful food drive at Mandalay Elementary School.
Near the end of the school day on Feb. 13, teachers and staff lined the center hallway on both sides of the cereal boxes, which spanned almost the entire length of the school. Students then came out and lined the sides in great anticipation. As the boxes fell, the cheers grew louder before an eruption of enthusiasm when it reached the end.
Students were asked to donate boxes of cereal during the weeklong food drive, which will help stock the shelves of the district’s Helping Hands food pantry that supports local families. There was a wide variety of cereal donated that could be enjoyed by both children and adults.
